The Educational Talent Search
Program (ETS) identifies and assists individuals from
disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in
higher education. The program provides academic, career, and
financial aid counseling to its participants and it encourages
them to graduate from high school and continue on to the
postsecondary school of their choice. ETS also serves high
school dropouts by encouraging them to reenter the educational
system and complete their education. The program serves 1,500
eligible participants enrolled in four middle schools and one
high school in the Huntsville City School District, eleven
schools in the Jackson County School District, and two schools
in the city of Scottsboro. At least two-thirds of all
participants are low-income, first-generation individuals with
the potential for a postsecondary education.
