Required Qualification:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Education
or a related field and a minimum of two years working with youth and
demonstrated knowledge of academic, social and cultural needs of
disadvantaged high school students.

Preferred Experience: Three
years relevant experience working with adolescents.

Personal experience overcoming
barriers similar to those faced by ETS students, and experience with and
demonstrated understanding of college admissions and financial aid
processes for low-income students of diverse background.

Experience with Educational
Talent Search or another TRIO program; and experience with U.S. Federal

Job Description:
-
Assist in the selection of
target student identification, recruitment and placement.
-
Visits target schools to
publicize and promote ETS, and provides applications to interested
students
-
Assist with the interview and
selection of new Educational Talent Search participants
-
Scores, records, and reports
participant attendance, behavior and academic progress; assists in
addressing related problems using counseling and tutoring as needed.
-
Collect participant academic
evaluation on a regular basis; records the evaluations, complies results,
and disseminates evaluations to participants’ parents
-
Arrange evaluation of
instructors and program by participants, and assists with parent
evaluation of program
-
Provide all necessary
participant and program data to Director for completion of annual reports
-
Assist in maintaining contact
with Educational Talent Search alumni and participant tracking
-
Assist in the planning and
implementation/arrangements for the academic year and summer component
including staff training, student orientation and the summer field trip
-
Provide oversight and
evaluation of instructional plans; coordinates and develops curriculum to
meet the needs of participants
-
Assist the ETS Coordinator
with purchase of instructional material needs and equipment for the
participants.

Assist with the summer bridge
program
-
Assist Educational Talent
Search Director Coordinator in initiating and maintaining contacts with
target school principals and staff and assists in communicating with
target schools

Assist in publicize and
promoting the Educational Talent Search outreach activities: including
orientation, community service, open house, PTA meetings, and others
-
Assist with the coordination
of participant newsletter, and other media releases
-
Assist in interpreting and
complying with federal and center regulations and guidelines
-
Teach /presenting classes and
workshops as needed
-
Contact and communication with
individual parents and PTA plans, develop and implement parent meetings
-
Perform other duties as
required.
Essential Job Function:

Knowledge and skills include ability to work
effectively with adolescents, understanding of barriers to be overcome by
ETS students, demonstrated appreciation of cultural and individual
differences, knowledge of educational development processes and
strategies, and outstanding leadership and organizational abilities.

Necessary skills: Ability to relate
to disadvantage students; knowledge of high school graduation
requirements; experience in providing academic advising and curriculum
development, and experience in planning and conducting training workshops;
management and communication skills are a must; experience with
documentation and evaluation processes required by Federal Grants;
available for travel for recruitment, Saturday activities; and some
evening and weekend work is required. And insights into operations of
target schools is beneficial; success in overcoming barriers similar to
those confronting target student population.
